Canada’s National Airshow brings tens of thousands of people to a small stretch of Townline Road for one weekend a year, and the road network around Abbotsford International Airport simply wasn’t built for it. Ask anyone who’s sat in the exit line after the Snowbirds’ final pass: getting in is manageable if you know the gates. Getting out is a different story.

This guide breaks down the real gate locations, parking zones, and closure zones for the 2026 Airshow (August 7–9), so you’re not guessing at the gate — and closes with the move a growing number of Fraser Valley locals use to skip the exit gridlock entirely: booking a private chauffeur for the day.

01 / Gates

Know Your Gate Before You Drive

There are two very different ways into the Airshow grounds, and mixing them up costs you time you don’t get back.

Onsite Parking / Carload Pass

Vehicle Entrance

For ticket holders with a Carload Pass (onsite parking included). Carload Passes are not sold at the gate — they must be purchased online in advance, and the event routinely sells out.

Follow posted Airshow signage from Townline Rd. once you’re within a few kilometres of the site.

Walk-in / Rideshare / Transit

Chinook Aviation Gate

The pedestrian entrance for Walk-in General Admission, taxis, and rideshare drop-offs. Available Saturday and Sunday only — this gate is closed on Friday.

30660 Rotor Dr., Abbotsford

02 / Parking Zones

Where the Parking Actually Is

“Parking near the Airshow” covers three genuinely different zones, priced and accessed differently. Here’s how they break down for 2026.

ZoneHow It WorksCost / Notes
Onsite (Carload Pass)Drive directly onto the event grounds, parked with your ticketed group. Follow signage from Townline Rd.~$16.99 advance, up to $25 at gate. Advance purchase only — sells out.
Walk-in LotOff-site lot entered from Mt. Lehman Rd., just south of Approach Dr. Opens 8:30 AM sharp — no early arrivals permitted, even in line.Limited quantity, must be booked online ahead of time.
Rideshare / Taxi Drop-offFollow Walk-in Parking signage, continue past the lot to the dedicated drop point on Cornell St.No pass needed to drop off — but exit traffic still applies to your driver.

03 / Reality Check

The Part Nobody Puts on the Website

Getting in is a scheduling problem. Getting out is a physics problem — tens of thousands of cars fed onto Townline Rd. and Mt. Lehman Rd. through a handful of controlled intersections, all leaving within the same 45-minute window once the final performance ends. Road closures and detours shift year to year around the site perimeter, and BC Transit runs a shuttle from the Highstreet Centre exchange as an alternative, but it queues too once the crowds move.

If you’ve been to the Airshow before, you already know the number that matters isn’t the show time — it’s the hour-plus it can take to go from parking stall to open road once the aircraft land.

Local Tip

The Friday Twilight Show empties faster than Saturday or Sunday — smaller crowd, later hour, and the walk-in gate is closed that day, which thins the pedestrian bottleneck at Chinook Aviation. If your schedule allows it, Friday is the lower-stress day to attend.

The Actual Life-Hack

Skip the Lot Entirely — Hire the Drive

Here’s the thing about every zone above: they all assume you’re the one driving, parking, waiting, and then sitting in the exit queue at the end of a long day in the sun. The move a lot of Fraser Valley families and corporate groups have switched to is cutting that whole equation out with a chauffeured ride.

HotWheelz is based in Abbotsford — this is our home turf, not a once-a-year booking for us. A chauffeur who knows the Townline Rd. and Mt. Lehman Rd. flow gets you dropped as close to your gate as the day’s closures allow, then handles the wait, the detours, and the exit crawl while you’re inside watching the Snowbirds.

01

No parking pass gamble.

No parking pass gamble. Skip the advance Carload Pass rush and the “sold out” risk entirely — you’re dropped at the gate, no pass required.

02

No GPS-to-the-wrong-gate mistake.

A local driver already knows Chinook Aviation isn’t the airport terminal.

03

The exit crawl becomes someone else’s problem.

Step out of the show, into the car, and let your driver manage the queue while you relax in air conditioning.

04

One vehicle, whole group.

A party bus keeps extended family or a corporate group together instead of coordinating three separate cars and three separate parking stories.

05

Arrive like it’s part of the show.

For a corporate hospitality booth or a VIP Chalet table, roll in in a Mercedes-Benz S580 or the Rolls-Royce Ghost — see the full HotWheelz collection.

Book Before the Weekend Sells Out

Just like Carload Passes, Airshow-weekend chauffeur bookings fill up early — this is the single busiest weekend on the Fraser Valley calendar. If you already know you’re going August 7–9, locking in your ride now is the same move as locking in your parking pass: the earlier, the better.
